We Grow in Faith

G.R.O.W.

Sunday school for beginners through 5th grade has moved to Wednesday nights from 6 to 7 p.m. and is now known as GROW (Get Renewed on Wednesday).  There are approximately 55 students enrolled. GROW suppers are held each Wednesday from 5:30 to 6 for students, parents and everyone who would like to attend. A light meal is served for a requested $2.00 donation.  The mission project for the students this year is the Fayette County Food Shelf.  We are contributing to a "quarter tube" each week for this purpose.

Confirmation Experience

Confirmation classes for 6, 7 and 8th grade students are held on Wednesday and Sunday nights.  Students gather on Wednesdays for a planned event--mystery night, movie night, game night or Grandparents night.  Sunday night meetings are twice a month from 6 to 7:30. Parents, students and congregation members are invited to learn during this time.

High School

Every three years, 30,000 high school youth and their adult leaders gather for a week of faith formation known as the ELCA Youth Gathering. Our high school kids traveled to Houston for the 2018 Gathering. Through days spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible study, service and fellowship, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.  Zion's youth hold several fundraisers throughout the year to help fund these triennial trips. We are already planning and fundraising for the 2021 Gathering which will be held in Minneapolis.
